3 Things You Should Do BEFORE You Start Your Marketplace

holdSo you’ve got the next big sharing economy idea, and maybe you’re ready to launch…or maybe you’re still planning.

Either way, hold your horses!

3 Things You Should Do BEFORE You Start Your Marketplace

  1. Define your avatar
  2. Determine the pain you solve or future opportunity you provide
  3. Identify where your avatar hangs out

Why? Good question.

You build a marketplace for customers, not for yourself because they are the ones that pay the bills. And if you answer the 3 questions below, it will insure that you construct a targeted and relevant marketplace.

So, let’s get into the weeds.

What is an avatar?

An avatar is a representation of your ideal client. This includes the sex, age, location, nationality, language, etc.

What is the pain solution or future opportunity you provide?

You need to know this because customers buy to eliminate pain or for future benefit.

Lastly, where does your avatar hang out?

If you find out where your avatar hangs out, then you’ll identify potential traffic sources and become aware of the conversation they are participating in.

So, there’s your homework. Go through the exercise of answering the 3 questions above. It will get you started on the right foot.
