7 Tips for Hosting a Successful Webinar

In an article on Entrepreneur, Brandon Turner (@BrandonAtBP) labels webinars as the “single greatest dollar-per-hour task” he can do in his business. Every week for the past year he has hosted webinars on real-estate-investing for his company, BiggerPockets. After trial and error, Turner has perfected his webinars and turned it into a profitable endeavor. He provides us with seven tips so we can do the same with our businesses.

  •      Use the right equipment

Over the past decade, webinar software has vastly improved to supply the constantly growing demand. The right software like GoToWebinar and WebinarJam can incorporate registration, reminder emails and follow-up emails. In addition to the right software, Turner recommends investing in a microphone and high-speed Internet to ensure a quality webinar.

  •      Deliver on the content

To turn your webinars into a profitable endeavor, encourage people to come back again and again. The content needs to solve their problem. Turner suggests following his steps and writing an outline of the presentation. When creating the slides, simple is better – no more than ten words per slide. An outline is not a script, but it allows you to have a real conversation with your audience.

  •      Have energy

Webinars with boring hosts are never successful. Get energized before putting on your webinar – go for a run or do something else to get pumped up. Asking the audience questions never hurts, too – the more you get to know them the more comfortable you will be. One important tip Turner gives is to stand up while hosting and get the camera on eye level. This really gets the audience to feel your energy.

  •      Reminders

It’s important to send out several reminders otherwise people will inevitably forget. Send emails when they register, after they register, twenty-four hours before and one hour before the webinar.

  •      Have courage to sell

It’s not bad to ask for something in return if you’ve delivered amazing content. Don’t be afraid to ask the attendees for money – encourage them to buy your product.

  •      Maintain deadlines

People usually wait until the last minute to do things so if you don’t have a deadline, you won’t sell anything. Offer incentives to those who register early such as bonuses or large discounts.

  •      Prioritize your funnel

Remember, the webinar is part of your funnel. Optimizing every part of your funnel will make a huge difference in your success. As Chris Guthrie from Upfuel.com said, “webinars are the single greatest dollar-per-hour task I can do in my business.” They are also a great way to get to know your customer and impact their lives.

If done correctly, these tips can vastly change your webinar game. We are taking these tips into consideration here at Near Me as you should for your business, too!
