People are fickle. A recent survey discussed on Skift.com shows that Americans are generally okay with Airbnb's rental product, unless these services are happening next door.

"When asked about whether your neighbor should be allowed to rent rooms in their houses for the short term — as opposed to a more general “anyone” — almost 10 percent more Americans change their mind about it, calling for either complete banning of the practice or tighter regulation."
