Brands Jump Into the Collaborative Economy via Partnerships

INSIGHTS
COLLABORATIVE ECONOMY

In a recent article by Jeremiah Owyang (@joyang), the author highlights how 8 brands are jumping onto the collaborative economy via partnerships.

Here is the list of 8 brands and what they are doing:

  1. MasterCard & Lyft - MasterCard extended the "priceless" campaign during the holidays by decorating Lyft vehicles and handing out gifts.
  2. KLM & Airbnb - KLM turned a plane into a airplane apartment for 3 lucky families.
  3. Comcast & Airbnb - Comcast created 3 Xfinity watachathon properties.
  4. Ghiradelli & Lyft - The chocolate company sponsored a Valentines contest featuring free chocolate during Valentines day with one lucky passenger winning a SFO getaway.
  5. Citybank & New York City - Citibank sponsors the NYC bike sharing program.
  6. Madd & Uber - Madd partnered with Uber to prevent drunk driving on St. Patrick's day.
  7. Honda & Indiegogo - Honda collaborated with Indiegogo to preserve drive-in move theaters.
  8. Nordstrom & Etsy - Nordstrom features Etsy products at retail locations.
It's just smart for brands to dip their toe into the collaborative economy through partnerships. It allows them to test before jumping in fully.
