Here are some tips on how to produce quality content for all your marketing channels.

Step 1: Hire a good writer

Our staff of writers consist of marketing interns, a copywriter, a manager and our CEO. New to writing web content, I gained many tools from the Hubspot blog training, but Wordpress can also be a great resource if you’re starting out. If you don’t have the budget for hire, Elance is a great resource for finding writers on a contract basis.

Step 2: Proofread, proofread, proofread

Ever come across a company’s website and found typos and unorganized sentence structure? This makes you question their credibility, doesn’t it? Before any of our blogs or marketing materials are published, they go through a rigorous editing process. It might seem like a lot of work with little payoff, but I guarantee that nobody is going to take a whitepaper seriously if it contains grammatical errors.

Step 3: Determine the focus of your content

Align your vision with your content. As we’ve discovered, having too many, or too broad topics, can leave your writers and your audience confused. Content isn’t there for content’s sake, but as a reflection of who you are as a company. The same goes for images or logos on your site. How are they helping to reinforce your image? Be consistent and readers will recognize you, hence tell you apart from all the rest.

Step 4: Understand SEO

A lot of people put content out there without understanding the dynamics of search engine optimization and how to craft content effectively. Find a tool that allows you to monitor which posts are getting the most views to understand and better craft the type of content that gets views and clicks.  

In today’s world, quality content is what compels customers to choose you over the competition. Instead of creating filler, provide valuable information that builds trust, engagement and loyalty. This takes more effort on your behalf, but the results of higher quality leads and the reputation of being a thought leader will make it worth your while.
