In a recent article in Business Insider, Alyson Shontell reveals Uber's plans to make car ownership obsolete.

"Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber, believes his company will ultimately go neck and neck with car dealerships. He wants to make Uber so affordable that riding Uber consistently becomes cheaper and easier than actually owning a car." 

Though this is a pretty lofty goal, it is bit silly too. 

Yes, people in high population urban centers can get away with not having a car. For example, if you live in San Francisco or NYC, you don't really need a car. You can use Uber, Lyft or Sidecar for local transportion. And you can use Zipcar or Sidecar for roadtrips, etc.

But what if happens if you live in the suburbs or a rural community? Come on, man!

We get that Uber has lofty goals, but they need to create some context for their goals and public statements. Otherwise, they'll end up looking silly...again!
