Everyone knows incorporating social media into your strategy is a very important part of marketing your business online. And in order to have a solid social media presence, you need to post consistently to engage your followers. I blogged about the ways we increased our social media engagement by 300% last month. Here are some creative ways you can create unique content that will holistically drive that engagement.

  • Ask Questions

This is social media marketing 101, but you still don’t see it happening enough. Everyone wants to be recognized, so it’s crucial for your social media engagement to ask questions in your social media posts. This gives your audience the chance to share their opinions, tips and wisdom. Inviting people to join the conversation helps create a bond with your company. It also provides insights into your audience that can help drive sales.

  • Share Quotes

Quotes are perfect because they’re short on text, but can be a great way to get points across quickly and with a powerful impact. Social media followers enjoy this type of content because it gives them a quick, memorable thought that will be in their mind all day. Quotes are much more likely to be retweeted on Twitter, so the simple effort of finding a relevant and interesting quote can boost your shares quite a bit. At Near Me we use quotes from our amazing podcasts and that really boosts our engagement.

  • Post Funny Content

People love to laugh. If you’re having a bad day, and  see a funny post on social media, that can really lighten your mood. That can also create a powerful bond with your brand. Charmin is great example of a brand that takes a funny and playful tone with its social media.

  • Share Other People’s Content

Posting your company's content on your social media is certainly your priority in really getting your message out there, but it’s good to share other content as well. Re-sharing other people’s content every so often is a simple way to bring relevant content to your audience and show that you’re open to sharing other ideas. A great way to do this on Twitter is to set up lists of industry thought leaders and periodically Retweet them.

  • Refer to and be a Thought Leader

Stay relevant by sharing content based on a thought leader concept, celebrity or event. This can create a path leading to engaging with your audience. The goal here is to be seen as a thought leader, interacting with other thought leaders. It’s also an easy way to infuse some personality into your channels by incorporating humor and generating far more shares than expected. TEDTalks is an obvious thought leader and spans a wide range of subjects and feature a variety of expert speakers that has boosted their Twitter to over two million followers.

Share consistent, interesting content on a regular basis and the ideas above will be a great way to get started. Where else do you find inspiration for social media content? Please share.
