Town Hall #77 - How platformOS Cloning Revolutionized Web Development

How do you leverage all your past hard work, or the hard work and best practices of others, to accelerate your business growth and reduce time to market? How do you migrate from multiple different CMS’, email marketing, ecommerce and marketplace SaaS products onto a future-proof solution that lives and breathes superior SEO and Enterprise performance / scalability?

If you could fast track business logic replication, along with database schema, custom data and all your design assets, whether it’s in REACT, Node, Angular, Vue, Bootstrap (insert your favourite front-end framework here), how cool would this be! And replicate to a fresh site at the touch of a button, with all dependencies copied over!!

The bedrock of the new Instance Copy, including API’s, has been a long-term Work-in-Progress for the platformOS team. But, we’re now getting ready to put it in your hands; replicate site Instances between Staging, QA, UAT and Production Instances on pOS. Especially powerful when replicating an existing Instance for a new client build! This includes being able to copy Instances from AWS to Google Cloud and vice versa - and soon Azure as well.

In this Town Hall session the team will:

• Create an example site on pOS
• Add Users and add Models
• Take this Instance and copy it to a new pOS Instance showing that the structural integrity of the site has been maintained, including the data elements

Reorganization

• Reorganized the Best Practices section to better group topics by categories, added End-to-End Testing category
• Reorganized the Introduction main category of the Developer Guide and renamed it to Development, moved development-related topics to this main category. Created GraphQL category where we will be adding GraphQL-related topics based on user request.  

Content production

• UPDATED Developing GraphQL Queries Using GraphiQL - extended topic, more topics to come on GraphQL
• UPDATED GDPR Compliance in platformOS - added information on our approach, extended section on Data Erasure 
• UPDATED Layouts - added note on the layouts/ prefix based on user request
• UPDATED Creating a Dynamic Sitemap - added recommendation on caching
• PLANNED Add reference of date specifiers
