"In August of last year, Uber launched a food delivery pilot program for users in certain sections of Santa Monica, California, called UberFresh. The company obviously sees some future in the space, crowded as it may be, because it is now about to take that service overseas for the very first time. The e-hailing company is taking its food delivery service to Spain, launching in Barcelona under the slightly rebranded name of UberEATS."
So, would you use Uber to deliver your food?
There's no doubt food delivery is convenient. Eat24, Munchery, and Instacart are displaying different ways to order food. From restaurant orders to pre-made meals to groceries, on-demand food ordering is here and the funding and acquisitions, like Yelp acquiring Eat24, prove it's already happening way beyond the pizza or Chinese food delivery days.
So is Uber being innovative--introducing food delivery to ride-sharing--or do they want to tap into the market for other reasons since they're already behind on the food delivery trend?
