In a recent article on the Shopify blog, Richard Lazazzera (@RichardABLS) details 6 ecommerce tactics DODOcase used to increase conversion rate.

"DODOcase has a marketing strategy that plugs as many holes in their bucket as possible to get the best possible return-on-investment from their advertising dollars. Not only do they do several critical things to keep their visitors in the bucket, but they also implement several strategies to bring customers back that fall out of the bucket and to get the most out of every customer."  

The specific tactics mentioned in the articles are:

1. Add product upsells to increase average ticket value
2. Add a newsletter popup to increase newsletter subscribers
3. Use an abandoned cart email to recover lost lasts
4. Use Google Adwords regargeting for abandoned cart customers
5. Use Facebook retargeting for abandoned cart customers
6. Implement referral marketing where both referrers and referees get a reward

We think these suggestions are great, and all marketplaces should use these best practices. In addition, we would add the following tactices can be utilized to increase conversion rates:

• Have a strong product/service guarantee
• Utilize verified reviews on products/services
• Show verified testimonials from real customers
• Take great product pictures
• Write stong product/service descriptions
